If you have an XP machine, you should be able to run the XP-only runtime. But until then, you have an XP-only runtime. I will have a look at the Microsoft site later to see if they have provided instructions for Vista. You can download a Windows Vista-only runtime version of FoxPro 2.6a If you are running Windows Vista, it might be a little trickier. You should see an XP-only runtime (presumably 2.6a). You can download FoxPro Runtime 2.6a at the Flip-and-Ship website, same instructions as described above.

The only change it made to version 1.6a is to move the registry items for 2.6a to a sub-folder below the root key for 2.6. FoxPro 2.6 is a full version of FoxPro 2.6a.

If you are running Vista, you can download it here and the installation is pretty straight forward. If you have Visual FoxPro 9.0 installed on the new computer, you will need to install FoxPro runtime 2.6a on it. In my experience, the issues are usually related to incompatibilities. Now, to the question in the title, a question I get asked a fair amount for a guy who has been doing this for over 15 years as I continue to upgrade my own editors and development platforms.
